The long car ride was quickly forgotten after we saw whales spouting right outside our hotel window as soon as we arrived. We also saw dolphins playing and feeding, sea otters, and more whales right off the beach. So cool! Savannah loved the beach but she mostly wanted to play in the freezing cold water. I was reminded of what a big difference there is between my two children. We took savvy to the beach when she was Caleb's age...she was already crawling and would head straight toward the water at every chance she got. Caleb screamed like a little girl when I touched his feet to the water or wet sand, and was perfectly happy sitting in the shade watching his sister play.
A highlight of the trip was getting to eat dinner both nights with my cousin Scott, who Savannah calls "Cunkle" Scott (cousin/uncle). Scott has a way with Caleb...it must have been the beard or something.
Tuesday was spent at the beach in the morning, and poolside after naps. We had lunch at Splash Cafe, which Matt and I enjoyed almost exactly one year ago while on an Anniversary Trip. Wednesday we took a long walk along the cliffs, spent more time at the pool, and then headed back home. Luckily the kids slept most of the ride home!
