I took the kids to the park the other day. We had a lot of fun, and it was actually very relaxing for me. I tried taking a bunch of cute pictures (they were so cute in the wagon together!) but almost all of them were awful. I'm only going to show my two favorites...and they're very cute indeed :-)

Memorial Day
First of all, a HUGE THANK YOU to all our fallen heroes, who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
This Memorial Day we threw a huge pool party BBQ. And I mean HUGE. I never imagined this many people at my house at once! I never actually did a head count but I do know that we bought 60 burgers and 30 hotdogs, and ended up sending someone out for more in the middle of the party! So much fun!

Sibling Love
While going through my photos I came across a particular set of pictures that just melted my heart. Maybe it's because they're my babies, but I just adore how loving and playful this is. No need to caption these photos. :-)

Caleb is 8 months old!
Life seems to be in fast forward and slow motion all at the same time. I think it has something to do with having kids (fast forward) and being in the middle of a remodel project (time just stand stills and progress is never fast enough!) Caleb is 8 months old (actually, he's just about 8 1/2 months old by now) and Savannah is almost 2 1/2!
Caleb has been up on his knees this past week and I swear any day now he'll just take off crawling! His army crawl has gotten efficient enough, however, that he doesn't feel the need for more. The biggest change this last month has been in dexterity. Boys really are slower than girls in this! Caleb can feed himself chunks of food and surprise! surprise! his new favorite food is chicken! Give me MEAT!!! His upper right tooth has camein and his favorite chew toy is mmommy's shoulder.
Caleb's first two words are "uh-oh" upgrades and "roar!!".... Those totally count, right?
Part of the reason this blog entry is 9 days late is that it took this long to get a good photo of him with his Yoda doll! The little pill won't hold still!

Beach Trip
Last weekend when we were at Uncle Mark and Aunt Kathy's house for
mother's day dinner, Kathy sprung a last minute invitation to join her
in Pismo Beach!
Ummmmm....YES PLEASE! So Monday morning I packed up the kids and went
to the Beach for two nights. We stayed in a cliff-side hotel with
GORGEOUS views both up and down the coast. The weather could not have
been more perfect...the heat wave that brought triple digit temps to
most of California made for PERFECT temps at the beach! Sigh. I love
the ocean.
The long car ride was quickly forgotten after we saw whales spouting right outside our hotel window as soon as we arrived. We also saw dolphins playing and feeding, sea otters, and more whales right off the beach. So cool! Savannah loved the beach but she mostly wanted to play in the freezing cold water. I was reminded of what a big difference there is between my two children. We took savvy to the beach when she was Caleb's age...she was already crawling and would head straight toward the water at every chance she got. Caleb screamed like a little girl when I touched his feet to the water or wet sand, and was perfectly happy sitting in the shade watching his sister play.
A highlight of the trip was getting to eat dinner both nights with my cousin Scott, who Savannah calls "Cunkle" Scott (cousin/uncle). Scott has a way with Caleb...it must have been the beard or something.
Tuesday was spent at the beach in the morning, and poolside after naps. We had lunch at Splash Cafe, which Matt and I enjoyed almost exactly one year ago while on an Anniversary Trip. Wednesday we took a long walk along the cliffs, spent more time at the pool, and then headed back home. Luckily the kids slept most of the ride home!
