Gardens and Giggles

Savannah received a gardening tool kit from her Auntie Bekah for her birthday this year and we started using is this past week!  I gave Savvy her very own planter box, but Nooooooooooo...she needs to work in Mommy's box.  (Who could blame her, really...I have broccoli and bok choy and she has dirt)  She was very interested in worms and wanted me to keep digging up more.
Caleb loved gardening...for about two minutes

I wasn't able to capture open eyes and a good smile in the same photo
SURPRISE!  I've got Daffodils popping up all over my yard!
First broccoli harvest!!!
Berry shoots are surviving the transfer from Michigan!!

Every mom has her own little tricks to get giggles and smiles from her baby.  Well, I'm the best mom ever.  I remember getting Savannah to giggle by throwing a squishy ball at her forehead over and over again.  With Caleb....well...turns out if you scare the bajeebers out of him he laughs!!!  Check it out :-)

Caleb is 4 months!

Yeah, yeah...he's almost closer to 5 months by now but remember we're playing catch up.

Caleb weighs 16 and a half pounds and is 25 inches long, which seems huge (he's been in 9 month clothes for over a month now) but apparently he's only about the 75 percentile for height and weight.  He can giggle, roll over (tummy to back) and is a DROOL MACHINE!  He just discovered himself in the mirror and loves to smile at the handsome dude staring back at him :) Other than the baby in the mirror, his favorite subject to watch and observe is his extremely active (and not always nice to him) older sister.  He has recently discovered a desire for the food on mommy's plate and will grunt like a caveman at it.  And after two weeks of sleep training I am proud to say you take two solid hour-and-a-half naps plus another shorter nap in the late afternoon. This mommy is starting to feel like my sanity is coming back!

Primary Colors

Laziness has led me to procrastinate on the Christmas and New Years blogs...you know how it is, the longer you procrastinate the less likely you are to get it done sometimes.  Soooo....just in case I never actually post all the cute Christmas and New Years pics I'm going to just move ahead...

Sooo...

Today we did an experiment!  We learned about Primary and Secondary Colors using food die and finger paints.
Start with six cups, three filled with water
Add food food coloring to water, one color in each cup
Mix red and yellow to get orange, etc
Finger paints in primary colors
Blend to make secondary colors!
And then it's playtime!
Try not to make too big a mess
...except making a mess is half the fun!
Even fun for babies!
Washable AND non-toxic...gotta love it!!!
Stay tuned for a flood of photos (most likely in reverse chronological order) bringing us up to date since Christmas!
