Dear Time, please slow down. I went to post pics from this past weekend only to discover that I never posted about LAST weekend!!! If only my family weren't so darn cute and photogenic, perhaps then I wouldn't have as many beautiful pics to post!
Soooo...last weekend we went to the Rodeo! It was 20 degrees cooler than the previous year and STILL hot! At least I wasn't pregnant this time! The day started with the parade...not much to say here...it was a typical parade. After naps and a quick dip in the pool we headed to the Rodeo where the kids became VERY restless VERY fast. I took Savannah for a short field trip to the kids zone where she observed the Mechanical bull....which she then would not stop talking about for three days :-)

Sunday was Father's Day. We went to the early service of Church and then headed out for a surprise trip to the lake. We rented a paddle boat, found a quiet alcove to eat lunch, and took a million cute photos. We were having a great time until....wait for it...wait for it...I dropped the camera off the end of the dock while climbing out of the boat. DOH! I just about cried but my wonderful husband quickly and wisely told me to get over it. After a potty break we took a quick family selfie (my favorite!) before heading home. We have great memories from this adventure...sorry I can't share them with you!

The other exciting thing that happened on Father's day was Caleb turning 9 months!!! He is on the MOVE! Mostly he moves from one scrap of food on the floor to the next, swallowing them before I blink. Grrrrr....but he's such a happy boy on the move!
Savannah is two and a half! These past 6-months have FLOWN by!!! Savannah has been busy helping mommy settle into our house and teaching Caleb the ways of the world. I'm having a difficult time describing Savannah with words...she's just so much fun! She's crazy smart....she can count past 30 and knows all the sounds in the alphabet. I tried teaching her some sight words on flashcards but she isn't quite catching on....perhaps two and a half is a little too young to read. Savannah loves to jump, hop, and climb. She loves being in the water and will going swimming no matter how cold it is! She LOVES to sing! And she's so good at memorizing that she'll know a song after hearing it just a few times. She has started asking "who's singing this song on the radio?" when we're in the car. Thank goodness I listen to K-LOVE. Savannah loves attention and wants me to do everything with her...it breaks my heart to hear her say "come play with my toys with me mommy!" when I'm trying to cook dinner. She also loves games...I bought her Hello Kitty Go Fish from the dollar bin at Target and she LOVES it! After just one game she fully understood the rules and strategies (although she has trouble holding all her cards). I rarely win. Oh, Savannah has a special skill of getting her brother to giggle like nobody else can....he is her biggest fan for sure!
Can you see how violently she's shivering?
This is Mommy trying to teach Savannah to make funny/scary faces....she succeeded only in remaining beautful
The tongue. Always with the tongue. I have no idea where she gets it from!!
Shell pasta on her fingertips...i turned my back for two minutes!!!
Savannah thanks God in her prayers for the Wookie she met at church EVERY night (it's been about a month now!)
Happy five year Anniversary to...ME!!! And of course my other half :-) Five years! So much has happened! More job changes than we can count on one hand. Two houses. Two kids. Here's to another five years and then to another 50!
This year Matt made secret arrangements for a romantic get-away. Such a treat! Although I was extremely nervous because Caleb doesn't take a bottle and we planned to leave him for a good 24 hours. Grandma Linda got here mid-afternoon on Friday and we were off! My guess was that we'd be heading to Napa to wine-taste...but we headed south as soon as we got in the car. That meant we were headed to Santa Cruz!!!! Two trips to the beach in one month? YES PLEASE!!!!! A couple hours later we were pulling into a Bed and Breakfast in the hills near Santa Cruz. Quiet and peaceful. So perfect. We went to a romantic dinner at a (supposedly?) famous restaurant called Shadowbrook. We parked at the top of a hill and rode a cable car down to the riverfront restaurant. So cool!
Saturday morning we slept in!!!!!!!! Awwwwwwwwww....to not wake up to a screaming child. Awww...Glorious. We took our time getting ready, took a walk on the property, fed the llamas, and then left for another surprise. Matt took me The Mystery Spot which seemed pretty cool (just what this nerdy girl enjoys!) but they were booked up until later that day. So we went to the Boardwalk instead! We walked around, put our toes in the sand, shoved our faces with fish-n-chips and ice cream, and then headed back home to rescue grandma from our children.
Except Grandma Linda is SUPER Grandma!!! Not only did she get Caleb to drink from a sippy cup, but she also taught Caleb how to crawl and to pull himself up on furniture and toys!!!! Thank you Linda for taking such good care of our children! We spent the rest of the weekend enjoying all the blessings (aka our Children) that God has blessed us with these past five years.
